Wol packet sender1/6/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() UPDATE: There is also an alternate solution. I wonder why that virtual network adapter is even created if it doesn't do anything except for possibly introduce issues. This is the first time EVER that a solution on Microsoft's Technet website actually helped completely! I can't believe this solution actually worked. When I disabled these virtual network adapters (Device Manager => Network Adapters), sending magic packets for wake-on-LAN was possible again using the second computer. The WoL packets are sent by UDP by default, but you can use the WoL protocol to send the WoL packets instead. Access your computer from your mobile device as long as you have an Internet connection. Heres an example script: image.png -Down and Dirty WOL packet sender. You can either use a system interface or a switch port to send the WoL packets. The Control Pins could be changed afterwards for your use case. ether-wake is a program that generates and transmits a Wake-On-LAN (WOL) Magic Packet. For instance, FUSION WakeUp on Lan and WakeMeOnLan default to port 40000 while WakeOnLANx defaults to port 7. You can use the CLI to send Wake-on-LAN (WoL) packets to a specific MAC address to remotely turn on a computer. ether-wake - A tool to send a Wake-On-LAN Magic Packet. Note that different programs default to different ports when sending the magic packet. And it could very well be that other virtualization solutions do the same. Launch the tool on the computer you want to send the WOL signal to, set the required port, and press Start. #Wol packet sender install#When you install or update VirtualBox, it creates one or multiple virtual network adapters (e.g., “VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter”). It turns out that VirtualBox was the culprit. #Wol packet sender windows 10#I had the same issue: I was able to wake-on-LAN other PCs from one Windows 10 machine but failed to do so on a second Windows 10 machine. ![]()
